PicPal's Dragonball Z Contest

Anime Home | Synopses | Article | Bibliography | PicPal: The Picture Palace

The Dragonball Z "stocking stuffer" is won!

Our winner came (we trust) from a Sailor Moon episode. S. Lynn will get a gift box containing the video Dragonball Z: Arrival from Pioneer and a Bandai action figure from the series.
The reaction?

"<blush> Cool! (Now just watch my idiot postman try to fit a vid into the teensy box... ;) )"

A number of other contestants have graciously accepted consolation prizes of other anime posters and freebies.

Check the competition!

You can never tell if it's the script or the translation sometimes, but there are a lot of Japanese animation tapes (especially the more risque ones) now for sale or rent in the US with just plain silly lines of dialogue! You know what they say about best laid schemes. There were so many responses to our contest that people could not pinpoint as specific episodes or scenes, that we could only verify so much.

Here are the rules:

The contest officially ends midnight Eastern (NJ, USA) time on Tuesday, December 16, 1997. This is the final deadline and will not be moved. The best entry will be judged by the Webmasters of The Picture Palace (AKA PicPal), whose decision may be imperfect but will be authoritative and final. One prize consisting of a gift box containing the video Dragonball Z: Arrival from Pioneer and a Bandai action figure from the series will be awarded to the person whose name and email address are valid and identified as the source of the winning submission. The winner will be required to specify a legitimate delivery address. Entries can either be made via the online form at URL:/ako.html or by email via our online form at URL:/email.html or to picpal@picpal.com with Dragonball Z Contest as the subject heading. Entries will be judged in terms of being clear, appropriate and correctly cited. Only those tv show episodes or films describable as being anime or from a manga source and released on tape in the US are eligible. Both the two fields for name and email address must be filled out correctly. Both the two fields for choice of title and dialogue quotation must be filled out, but there is no minimum or maximum of words. Entrants can file more than one entry. Any submission that overloads the server or cannot be processed by the cgi script will be disqualified. Your entry will be confirmed in two steps: first by email from picpal@picpal.com and second by posting at URL:/ako2.html. If you have any reservation or if you believe your entry or entries were not properly confirmed, please submit via our online form at URL:/email.html or to picpal@picpal.com before the deadline. Making sure an entry is recorded and posted before the respective deadline of a respective round is the entrant's responsibility. A last check will be made of all official entries after midnight, December 16th and the decision made and posted as soon as possible afterwards. The Picture Palace is not responsible for blank, incomplete, misdirected submissions, or entries not received or inaccessible due to human error, conditions on the Internet, acts of God or online service providers. The Picture Palace is not responsible for entries that cannot be confirmed by email due to server incompatibility or inaccessibility. "Bounced" confirmations will not be resent and unconfirmed entries will not be posted. Illegible (garbled) or incomplete email and forms will be disqualified. Executable and macro attach files will disqualify any entry. Submitting an entry by online form or email constitutes granting permission to PicPal to post the supplied entry indefinitely. Entrants agree to accept sole responsibility for following international copyright law and other intellectual property rights attendant to communications on the Internet regarding quotation of material by other artists. The prize is guaranteed to be awarded. The winner will be notified by return email. There will be no cash substitutions for the prize listed. Acceptance of the prize will constitute permission (except where prohibited) to use the respective winner's name and/or statements for publicity purposes without further compensation. Odds of winning are determined by the number of qualified, eligible entries received by the deadline date. This contest is open to anyone in the US of age eighteen and over. Employees and their immediate families connected with the producers, distributors and promoters of Pioneer discs and videos are ineligible. All international, federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited by law. The winner will be posted at URL:/ako.html in late December, 1997. Entrants agree that sponsors and judges of this promotion shall not be liable for losses of any kind resulting from entering PicPal's Dragonball Z Contest or from acceptance and/or use of the prize or parts thereof.
