The Toll of the Sea

(1922) Known as the Technicolor "Madame Butterfly", this was the first production shot with the new two-strip color film process. You can see a clip from this high-quality video in our article. Douglas Fairbanks made Wong the first and only Chinese-American star in the world of silent film, after he saw her in this tearjerker and cast her in his film, Thief of Bagdad.
