Clutch Cargo The legacy of Clutch Cargo lives on in comic hommages that range from Conan O'Brien's fake interviews with photos of famous people and that pirate that opens every Spongebob episode. In what they actually patented as the Syncro-Vox process, filmed human lips were made to float over the barely animated cartoon faces. This 50s precursor to Jonny Quest featured a strapping test pilot named Clutch and his sidekicks Spinner and Paddlefoot. After a brief revival on Comedy Central, the first two volumes of the series were issued by Streamline that include about a half dozen chapters between them. We have the last of those, now off the market. $12.99 apiece!. Check a box to order:

Rocky Jones Richard Crane had a two-year stint as Rocky in a sophisticated (for its time, considering it was shot on film) fantasy of 21st century adventure. If you're not in a rush you can search the phrase "Rocky Jones Space Ranger" in our TV tape database for all available titles, but these are the most popular from the series, which we get from a variety of sources. Co-star Scotty Beckett was a member of the most famous of the Our Gang incarnations in the 30s, appearing in such classic shorts as For Pete's Sake, Honky Donkey and Washee Ironee (as well as other studio films, of course). From '54 to '56 he played Winky, one of Rocky's many sidekicks, and thereafter retired from the business. Check a box to order:

Super Circus As Yesterdayland's timeline puts it, the ringmaster "Kirchner, whose voice was already familiar as the off-camera announcer for Marx toy commercials, had been a real circus barker in the early 1930’s" and the baton-twirling assistant Hartline "was as much a sex symbol as one could be on a wholesome television show of the early 1950's." Their combination was so popular, that when they were recast the series only lasted another year. If you're not in a rush you can search on Super Circus or Mary Hartline as phrases in our TV tape database for all available titles, but this one's the most popular. $24.99. Check this box to order:

Winky Dink and You almost came out a couple of years ago from a one-shot label that stymied our attempts to carry their product. It took indie distributor Vanguard to repackage volume one, the magic screen (by "magic" we mean the magic of static cling!) to put over your TV set and draw on, erasable crayons and a wiping cloth in a handy little plastic lunchbox. The original series ran on CBS in the 50s but was revived in the 70s. If you're in your 40s you may remember drawing on the magic screen - Bill Gates does! Steve remembers his mom refusing to buy the magic screen and crayons, so boy did he catch it when he drew on the real screen with regular crayons! Check a box to order:
The Winky Dink and You Set includes volume one, the magic screen, erasable crayons and a wiping cloth in a plastic carrying case; $14.99
Winky Dink and You Volume 1 is Escape Harem Scarem, with a bonus cartoon called Nudnik on a Shoestring; 45 mins., color, $9.99
Winky Dink and You Volume 2 is Where Is Hector Collector? Animate the show with your onscreen drawings and find Hector! 45 mins., color, $9.99
Winky Dink and You Volume 3 is The King Needs Help; only you can help Winky! 45 mins., color, $9.99

Adventures in Paradise started in the 50s (created by James A. Michener), but lasted until 1962. Adam Troy (Gardner McKay) is a Korean War vet based in the South Pacific, drifting in his schooner Kon Tiki anywhere from Hong Kong to Pitcairn Island. Crewmen were portrayed by Weaver Levy, James Holden, and later Guy Stockwell. The series used four versions of the Tiki, including a fully operational miniature and a scaled down version for action involving the players, as well as the real ship, which McKay purchased after the series' run was over. The star wound up in radio in later years, and died recently of cancer in Hawaii. Our visitors tend to buy all three tapes at a time. $19.99 each. Check a box to order:
Castaways begins with the Tiki on its way to the strife torn island of Mai Sai with a cargo of serum to fight a cholera epidemic. Troy and crew pick up three men stranded on a tiny atoll, who claim to be survivors of a shipwreck, but they're really gunrunners from a ship called the Punjab Trader, whose captain was murdered! The trio, led by the second mate (John Larch), take over the Tiki, threatening to kill the nun (Viveca Lindfors) who is transporting the serum, and go after the Punjab Trader.
Somewhere South of Suba has a dead man's business partner hiring the Tiki and its captain, Adam Troy (Gardner McKay), to try and trace a long-lost cargo plane that hides Tai Kun, the third largest diamond in the world! Troy does just that, and finds not only the wreck, but the dead man's daughter Loraine (Alexis Smith), alive all of those years and hiding a terrible secret about her father. This episode features a lot of Sea Hunt-style underwater action.
The Forbidden Sea costars Joan Blondell, John McGiver, Robert Douglas, and Henry Silva. A man found clinging to an outrigger canoe convinces Troy to divert the course of the Tiki, much to the distress of his passengers. Troy soon learns that the man has conned him into bringing his passengers to a military test site, to use their presence -- and their deaths, if necessary -- as a protest to halt nuclear bomb tests! 60 mins.

More to come, from the 60s to the 80s!
