Lewis wrote The Allegory of Love, about chivalric romances, in 1936 while a medieval scholar at Oxford. M any of his sci-fi works are essentially anti-technology, so he was most at home writing what became his most successful series, those Arthurian kid's books The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, The Silver Chair and others.
